Nothing is simple about simple pleasures. Take the pleasure of being with someone anytime, anywhere; or at home, alone, lovingly looking at yourself in the mirror; outside, surrounded by a free, perennial nature, certain that it will always be so; down in history exactly as you were. As queer as it is flamboyant, Earthly Delights is about fighting for these simple but forbidden pleasures: rebellious struggles, conformist ones, overt as well as secret, on the street and on Grindr, now and since forever. Addressing pleasure with pleasure: for there is a queer pleasure of joy and excess, which was once called camp and nowadays is called extra. And this extra comes from a lack: nothing more natural, then, than an overflowing cinema about that which has been lacking. (Călin Boto)
